Hi. My name's Paul. I'm an Odessa native, a graduate of Odessa High School, Odessa College, and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin and I have a camera.
Smile!
Welcome to Odessa (in pictures)
I hope you'll enjoy your visit to this website and return often to catch a glimpse into Odessa as seen through my camera lens.
Brrrrrrr! It's Cold!!!
A serious cold front blew into town February 1st of this year lowering temperatures into the single digits and the wind chill into the negative teens. Ouch! The temperature stayed below freezing for around 100 hours before warming into the 50s for a day or two then plummeting back into the single digits. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to summer. I hope it comes early.
UTPB Science Building
The new Science and Technology Complex at UTPB is nearing completion. Scheduled to be finished later this year (2010), the state of the art facility will provide space for computer science, information technology, physics, chemistry, and biology classes. There will also be a dining facility, a fitness center, and a childcare center in the dual winged building. It's nice to see an educational facility of this quality in Odessa.
Springtime in Odessa
It's been a long winter. Seems it got cold a little earlier than usual - early November if I recall - and was consistently below freezing in the mornings through the end of February of this year. The good news is that just in time for the West Texas Relays, spring like weather has arrived. The temperature is in the 70s, the mornings aren't freezing, and flowers are blooming on trees. Here's hoping it stays warm for a while.
UTPB Graduation
I went to the UTPB auditorium to watch my friend Phil receive his Masters of Business Administration degree a few weeks ago. His wife and his mother were there along with a standing room only crowd of well wishers there to congratulate their friends and family members on a job well done. UTPB has become a terrific place to go to school with an excellent faculty and an ever growing curriculum.
The Fountain Returns
It took the city a while and it cost (a lot) more than some citizens might have wanted to spend but the fountain at Buffalo Wallow is once again proudly proclaiming its presence. Now that it's back we realize that it's a nice addition to the view for those who exercise on the walking path or feed the birds that line the shore. If it warms up a little today, I may go take another look.
